Peasant Daily Newspaper Shaanxi Province Bureau Chief Arrested

Boxun reports that Peasant Daily newspaper Shaanxi Province bureau chief Jiang Yanbo recently went missing after attending a meeting in Beijing. His formal arrest was announced by the Beijing police on Monday April 20.

In recent days Peasant Daily newspaper bureau chiefs in Yunnan Province, Qingdao City (Shandong Province), and Shanxi Province have been arrested. More arrests are expected. It is reported that these cases involve paying bribes, receiving bribes, and other financial malfeasance with each case amounting to one million yuan (US$147,000) or more.
