Communist Party Propaganda Czar Li Changchun Forbids Media Reporting on Chinese Participants in Siemens Bribery Scandal

Boxun reports that in recent days the Communist Party's Central Propaganda Department have notified national media to refrain from reporting on the Chinese participants in the ongoing bribery scandal involving German multinational corporation Siemens. According to a Beijing Daily newspaper department chief, neither the Central Propaganda Department nor the Beijing News Office has prohibited reporting on the Siemens scandal itself, they just forbid mention of the Chinese participants.

This Siemens bribery scandal is global in scope. The U.S. Justice Department has revealed that three of Siemens Chinese subsidiaries are suspected of large-scale bribery: its transport group, its medical group, and its electric power group. It involves officials in China's electric power, transportation and medical bureaucracies. The case is believed to involve the family members of sitting Politburo officials.
