Counterfeit RMB Bills Depicting Images from June 4, 1989 Tiananmen Massacre Circulating in China

Counterfeit Chinese yuan notes depicting immediately recognizable images (such as lines of tanks) from the June 4, 1989 Tiananmen Square military crackdown on student-led democracy protesters are presently circulating in China. The authentic-looking counterfeit bills--produced and now circulating in China in advance of the 20th anniversary of the massacre--demonstrates that there is still deep and widespread yearning in China for a democratic, civilized society ruled by law, and that the aspirations of those popular nationwide protests of two decades ago are still alive and well in the Chinese peoples hearts and minds.
