In 1950s, CCP forced those who had redundant rooms to lease the rooms/homes to other people. Government collected rent and gave some to the owners. The rent was not paid for many years, government has taken these homes as its own property. These homes are legally owned by these people, some have died of old age. But they cannot claim back. The video below was a protect held on feb. 25, 2008 in Wenzhou City.

One of the leaders of these home owners - Wang Jiyong, was arrested last night in Beijing. As thousands of others, WANG went to Beijing to ask for justice during the national conference.
