"Double Agent": a meeting with Yang Hengjun

Yang Hengjun's novel, Fatal Weakness, was first published on line at www.boxun.com ,then spread rapidly all over internet. The first in his spy trilogy on government corruption and double-dealing, it is the story of a U.S.-China double agent who ultimately works for neither side but instead serves his own personal agenda �C the precipitation of a U.S.-China conflict. At first too sensitive to be published in China, the trilogy of books has swept the Internet finally, and are some of the most popular online novels read by Chinese. In conversation with Rebecca MacKinnon. Mackinnon is China internet specialist as well as a former CNN correspondent . Please note this session will be in Putonghua (mandarin). Yang Hengjun will also attend "A Chinese Literary Book Corner" at Chinese University of HongKong, on Monday, 10 March, 11:00am

Yang and another distinguished author Yiyun Li will discuss writing about China. Yiyun Li was born in Beijing and later moved to the United States to write. her debut collection, A Thousand Years of Good Prayers, won international accolades including the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award. Yang Hengjun, as the first political espionage novelist in China and is committed to the freedom to write. Yang Hengjun will talk about internet and writing. Hear them talk about their writing and read from their works. Please note this session will be in English and Putonghua.
