Tianjin Worker's Protest Demanding Compensation for Injured Worker Achieves Success

Boxun reports that Tianjin worker's rights defender Luo Xi said that after a tense 1.5 hour standoff with Tianjin police--due to the intense scrutiny on this matter by netizens both domestic and international and the pressure it brought to bear on the Tianjin municipal government--the police retreated and government representatives were sent to negotiate. The negotiation continued until 1:30 p.m., at which time the Tianjin Engineering Administration Department agreed on a settlement to injured worker Wang Chao of 120,000 yuan (US$17,640).
