In March, 2007, SUN was visited by police after he reported a driver beaten up by city uniformed officers. SUN was warned to stop reporting for Boxun. SUN did not stop and continued to report as he insisted that he has the right to report as a Chinese citizen.
On May 30, 2007, police raided his home and SUN and HE were arrested. They were charged four crimes originally, none of them related to their activities for Boxun. The case was returned to police twice as lacking of evidence. In the trial, they will be charged for two crimes: 1) Conceal weapon (gas pressured pistol in sport): none of the guns was found in SUNs home or car; 2) Disturbing social order: it was an incident in 2004 when SUN was hired to facilitate a relocation of nursery by city garden bureau. SUN help negotiation and the whole process accompanied by police. There was no social order problem. According to SUNs lawyer Mr. Mo Shaoping, it was a civil dispute, not a crime case at all.
