Sichuan Internet Activist Deng Yonggu Convicted for "Slander" For Internet Post
Boxun reports that Sichuan Province, Suining City, Pengxi County's Deng Yonggu's so-called "slander" case was completed on Wednesday July 15. Deng Yonggu was convicted of "slander," but avoided criminal punishment.
According to Deng's elder brother Deng Yongtao, at approximately 3 p.m. on Wednesday July 15, the Pengxi County Court pronounced judgement on Deng's criminal case. The court convicted Deng of "slander," but declined to criminally punish him. Despite this verdict, Deng Yonggu was not freed at the time, but had to await the conclusion of a half-hour discussion. Deng Yonggu is now safely back home.
