Renowned Agricultural Ministry Editor Xu Feng Removed From Office for Refusing to Participate in Illegal Payment Scheme

Renowned Mainland journalist and former "Baixing [Common People]" editor Xu Feng was removed from his job for refusing to accept illegal payments. He was relieved of his duty in March 2008, and this week he was reassigned to a much smaller Agricultural Ministry publication "Agricultural Equipment Market Weekly." He will start his new work at the end of December. He feared that if he was being framed in asking him to participate in the swindle, like another Baixing reporter named Zhou Guiqing who wrote about corruption surrounding Sichuan Earthquake relief funds and was unjustly sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison on the trumped-up charge of soliciting  bribes.

According to mainland media, many reporters are unjustly imprisoned.
