(On-Scene Photographs) Recent Developments in Deng Yujiao Case: Citizen Journalists Harassed, Informed Citizens Threatened
Boxun reports that on Tuesday May 26 all
television broadcasts and internet access in the Hubei Province city of
Yesanguan where the Deng Yujiao incident took place have been cut off.
The governments explanation is that this is precautionary in
anticipation of lightning strikes. Local officials are attempting to
prevent local citizens from hearing the loud chorus of outside
dissatisfaction about the case.
Deng Yujiao's best friend Yang Hongyan's clothing store has been
closed, and she is unable to be contacted by telephone. It is unknown
if she has been detained.
Also, the other official stabbed but not killed by Deng Yujiao--Huang
Dezhi--is being treated in hospital and remains incommunicado.
