CPJ calls on Pyongyang to release Euna Lee and Laura Ling

 New York, March 14, 2009¡ªIn response to a North Korean statement that American journalists Euna Lee and Laura Ling of U.S. media outlet Current TV, arrested on March 17 along the border with China, will be put on trial on June 4, the Committee to Protect Journalists issued this statement:
 
¡°North Korea has not made clear on what charges, if any, it is holding our colleagues Euna Lee and Laura Ling,¡± said Bob dietz, CPJ¡¯s Asia program coordinator. ¡°We call on the authorities to reconsider their decision to put the journalists on trial and release them immediately.¡±
