Nightmare of a Pretty School Teacher

Gu Xia ¨C a pretty school teacher in Tianjin City, China, was almost killed in a propane explosion in her apartment on Jan. 29, 2005. Gu Xia was shocked by the explosion when she lighted the stove. The skin of her hands came off as Ħ°gloveĦħ, she managed to opened the door and walked out. The explosion destroyed her apartment and damaged a few others. Then the nightmare started.

Gu Xia was sent to the hospital by a taxi, she was left in the lobby as hospital required 7000 RMB cash must be presented before any treatment. (patients must show cash, otherwise will be rejected, it is a normal practice in China). A few hours later, her sister brought the cash in, and she was put in the surgery room.
Her head looked like balloon, the pain was in extreme. Doctor said she was third degree burned ¨C the most serious.
In the next two months, Gu Xia experienced the pain of hell. Changing bandage and clean her wounds without any anesthesia, her scream could be heard far away.
She lost nine fingers, her face was totally different, even frightening.
By the time Boxun reporter reached Gu Xia, she have not gone to outside in daytime for two years.
What is worse, Gu Xia cannot go to work, she has only about $100 a month. She cannot afford to have further surgery for recovery.

Note: The propane was supplied by Gas Company, the parts were old and the pipe was not inspected by the company for many years. On Jan. 28, 2005, one explosion killed a 27 year old female teacher in Tianjin. The teacher was pregnant for three months. On Jan 3, 2007, another explosion happened in Tianjin. The Gas Company has much power and does not take any responsibilities.
