Shandong Province, China-  On the morning of June 1, 2010, an 87-year old retired cadre's widow, Wang Sangmin, was killed at the hands of local government. The City Urban Administrative and Law Enforcement Bureau of Qihe County forcefully relocated Wang's private residence, where she lived bedridden with paralysis. Four governmental employees wielding sledgehammers carried out the barbaric act, crushing Wang to death in her bed.

Police have made an investigation and an initial report. The four employees have been detained, yet the government views the incident as a mere accident.

A Boxun news reporter has contacted the bereaved by telephone. One gentleman at Wang's residence admits that the government has threatened the family from speaking out. Wang's son is in the process of appealing for help to the provincial government. Despite contact from Wang's son, CCTV has yet to report on the incident.

In Chinese municipalities, the City Urban Administrative and Law Enforcement Bureau act as inspectors, enforcing local urban management. This local bureau has come under national criticism in the past for excessive use of force and other abuses of the law.
